After a positive test for covid put his international campaign on hold, a second test on Wayde van Niekerk came back negative on Saturday evening.Van Niekerk had spent the last 14 days in quarantine in Italy after arriving in the country on 19 July. Van Niekerks management team asked for a second test to be taken which has now confirmed that the star athlete was Covid-19 negative, according to Times Live.Unfortunately for Van Niekerk, he still wasnt able to compete at his first scheduled competition. The word from his camp was that he was unable to jump through all the hoops - various protocols that included further medical tests - in order to line up in what was supposed to be his first race abroad since injuring his right knee in a game of tag rugby in 2017.
